Copic Marker Coloring of Tiana and other characters from the Disney's Princess and the Frog

I made this piece not only because I like The Princess and the Frog but also because fanart of her character seems a little scarce compared to other characters of the Disney franchise. Though a landmark being the first black Disney princess, I feel like her film was an underrated one due to cultural reasons. However, at the same time, I am very excited with the diversity that seems to be increasing within the Disney franchise. As they continue to come out with films featuring a variety of experiences, (so excited for Pixar's Coco!) I would love to see another animated film featuring a black heroine, this time with the use of computer animation, which is the new animation standard. One fact I find fascinating yet sad is that The Princess and the Frog was Disney's last 2D animated film; due to its less than stellar performance at the box office, the company was convinced that 2D animation was no longer profitable. However, I find the artistry of 2D to be more apparent than that of 3D computer animation. This piece was done using a mix of copic markers and colored pencils, incorporating a variety of scenes and characters from the film. I am currently working on a Beauty and the Beast version inspired in the same style!
